Mr. Nelson has experience in mechanical design, failure analysis, engineering testing, and witness testimony. He has specific expertise in product liability for outdoor consumer goods.

Mr. Nelson is a problem solver and inventor by nature. He has over 13 years of combined professional experience as a mechanical engineer in the areas of electric utility components and outdoor consumer goods. Jake has extensive manufacturing experience, both domestic and overseas. He served as the subject matter expert for various product lines during his career and can effectively communicate technical information to a wide range of audiences. Jake’s entire professional career has been with product involving high liability.

Jake has been an active member of various engineering and honors societies, The Institute of The Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and The American Society for Testing and Matierals (ASTM). He was elected to and served on the Board of Directors of the Treestand Manufacturers’ Association (TMA) for over 3 years.

Jake earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. His graduate and undergraduate research fellowships were centered around computational fluid dynamics (CFD). He has a great appreciation for simulation tools including finite element analysis and an understanding of how they can be applied to real world problems.

Jake loves spending time with his family and is an avid outdoorsman.
