David Mustain is a licensed professional mechanical engineer with nearly 20 years of experience in petrochemical, refining, and heavy industrial operations. His career spans engineering, reliability, maintenance, projects, turnarounds, and operational leadership, giving him practical experience evaluating the interaction between people, processes and physical equipment in complex industrial environments.

David has extensive hands-on experience with rotating equipment, pressure systems, piping, instrumentation, and control systems. He applies this combination of technical expertise and real-world operating experience to forensic investigations and international arbitrations involving industrial accidents, equipment and mechanical failures, workplace injuries, and product liability matters. His forensic work includes technical investigations, expert reports, and deposition testimony, as well as support for litigation and arbitration.

David helps his clients understand what happened, why it happened, and which technical issues matter. He is particularly skilled at distilling complex engineering evidence and technical disputes into clear, defensible conclusions that can be understood by attorneys, insurers, industry professionals, and other non-engineers.

David serves on the Louisiana State University (LSU) Mechanical Engineering Industrial Advisory Council and a Technical Committee of the Plastic Pipe Institute (PPI). David is also a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society and other technical organizations and non-profits. He is committed to the development of future engineers and to continued professional and technical development.

David is licensed as a Professional Engineer in Delaware, Louisiana, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Washington, D.C., and West Virginia.

Outside of engineering, David enjoys traveling with his family and renovating residential properties. He has experience as a licensed real estate professional and enjoys applying his engineering and construction background to challenging renovation projects.
